Give honey bees a home
Why not introduce one or several bee colony/colonies to your site? By doing so, you will help us to regenerate bee populations and to take action to tackle the causes of pollinator loss.
One hive can accommodate a colony of 50,000 bees. One bee will travel up to 3 miles on average to forage, where bees forage and pollinate 4 billion flowers on average a year (1,300 tons of apples, 800 tons of pears, 128 tons of cherries, etc.). While doing so, they fertilise these plants and help to preserve biodiversity.
Management
we will manage all aspects associated with your honey bee colony and in complete safety at that.
The bees will be positioned a safe distance away.
Before launching into any project, we carry out a feasibility study free of charge to check whether the environment is suitable for bee colonies and to ensure that the colonies are suitable for the environment! We take care to only introduce bees that are in the area already whether they be the black, Buckfast or Carniolan honey bees.
Involve people
Anyone interested (staff, schools,) will be invited to lend a helping hand with the colonies when the beekeepers come to pay them a visit!
Beekeeping courses can also be organised.
There are numerous bee species (Apoidea). In the UK , more than 380 species have been identified. Among those, you have bumblebees and Osmia bees.
Wild bees and honeybees are essential to our ecosystems. Their ecological and morphological characteristics make them complementary actors in the preservation of our environment.
In the UK only one subspecies produces honey, i.e. Apis mellifera L.
Honeybees live in colonies of several thousand individuals, giving them tremendous pollination potential.
Costs involed with having a hive Depends on the size of the hive you decide on, in turn that will determine the amount of Honey you receive, all your honey will have your own personal labels on to keep for your self/sell or to give away as Christmas or Birthday gifts.
