Today, I find myself at one of our pollination contracts, where our bees are pollinating crops. My task is to relocate a swarm of bees. Here at Bee Conservation, we typically donate swarms to new beekeepers, but this swarm, likely originates from a wild colony. A few seasons ago, one of our own colony openly mated become very aggressive at this apiary. It seems a wild colony mated with one of our queens, resulting in heightened aggression.
So, what's the plan?
Firstly, we'll quarantine the swarm for eight weeks. During this time, we'll closely monitor for signs of aggression or disease. Afterward, I'll decide whether to donate the colony or retain it, for pollination purposes.
