Flying insect numbers plunge 64% since 2004, UK survey finds

Scientists behind car number plate study say ‘potentially catastrophic’ decline must be reversed.

For us young folk, 'do you remember the summers of the 60's & 70's'. It was always a pain to clean the bug splattered car windscreens in the summer. As a child, I remember the sound of that distinct thud. A large bug, hitting the windscreen followed by the green/yellow and red, the windscreen wipers working over time to clear the mess - I can't remember the last time I needed to do that however I do know it was well over 10 years ago.
